Enrollment is underway for this year’s classes, which serve children ages birth to seven.

We are expanding our programs to include Parent-Child classes, a small Pre-School, and a mixed age kindergarten. Thanks to the work of many dedicated parents, teachers, and board members, we are growing our school towards a first grade and beyond.

Parents with their children ages birth to three will experience together the “head, heart, and hands” of Waldorf Early Childhood Education. Mornings will include artistic work, singing, movement, and creative play in our beautiful kindergarten. Parent resources on the class theme will also be available.

This 7 week session will be limited to 10 families and can also be a continuation for some who participated last spring.

We will meet weekly on Wedndedays from 10-12, September 15-October 27 at Tierra Madre School.

Most of our time will be spent just enjoying our time together, with some song, story, and game directions.

I would also like to make a contribution each week about a different facet of waldorf early education that was extremely valuable as a parent and waldorf teacher; and work with questions coming from our group.

Topics to be touched on this session will be:

-bringing this world to my child

-nurturing my child’s life forces

-celebrating the life of our seasoned

-subtle stages of growth

-how the waldorf curriculum met my child’s needs

-the joy of color and creating with my child

-touching upon beauty for my child

Our community is based on the desire to understand and foster a love for life in our children.  May this be a small but valuable venue.

The total cost per family will be $105 (opt. 2/$53 payments).

The mission of Tierra Madre School is to nurture and inspire our children and community through holistic approaches to education with the goal of creating social and ecological healing in the world.

The Vision of Tierra Madre School is to provide a nurturing educational environment that enlivens children’s imagination, fosters their creativity, stimulates their intellect, and instills in them a sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world, as well as to honor self and others as part of that world.
We will achieve this through a play-based kindergarten and an academically challenging, experiential, arts-integrated grades curriculum that are both thoughtfully attuned to honoring the developmental stages of childhood and designed to assist each individual to fully develop his or her own unique human capacities and intelligences. Through this endeavor we envision helping to bring forth a population of thoughtful, intelligent and compassionate citizens who are immersed in community, inspired by a deeply held love of learning, and committed to helping create a more just and peaceful world.

Toward this end, our vision includes:
  • A contemporary Waldorf curriculum taught by Waldorf-trained teachers.
  • A school campus that practices environmental sustainability and allows students frequent access to the natural world.
  • Community partnerships that enhance the students’ connection to the natural world.
  • A Community-Supported Education model that ensures TMS’ accessibility to families of all income levels.
  • An active seasonal festival life in the school community.
  • A community striving to be media-free.
